Beck's in Wellington

So last night was the actual "Beckham" vs. "New Zealand, the Phoenix, the Hurricanes, England, Football and every shade of yellow possible" game, at least that's what the fan outfits indicated... somewhere you could even find a paper Victoria.
But the attendance was overwhelming, and so was the atmosphere, 31.800 fans almost double the attendance of yesterdays game.

my view to the right and left.

drummers, a blond Beckham, and the NZRAF-Fly over.

glitter from the roof, and the crowds first glimpse of Becks.

Beckham and Ross Aloisi, Sam, Sarah, Tobi, Jen, Jane and Noreen.

The Fans going wild after the Phoenix scored their first and only goal, and Becks taking a penalty (his only goal), we all know what he's like with penalties, but he actually scored that one...

One of the desperate fans that tried to enter the field, probably desperate because nobody followed his call "Chop him!" (every time, any Galaxy player came in a reasonable distance to the Phoenix goal)- begging for a Beckham freekick.

Of course that guy had to take his shirt off, as usual... and a kind of surprising firework at the final whistle.

Sam teaching his skate skill to Noreen, in front of the stadium.

All in all a very interesting experience, even though the game itself had few surprises, but the fact that the official New Zealand football match attendance record from 1982 was broken is a good sign for NZ Football, If the Phoenix could take their performance of the first 20 minutes and elongate it to 90 or 120 minutes, they would play real quality football.
