Here the first shots from the shoot, I got the kids that weren't in the scenes to take photos, they have quite an "artistic" view! I added a few stills from the scenes we shot today. Not everything is perfect and I'll have to do a lot of sound editing, and a few things we shot today have to be redone, but all in all I'm very pleased, especially with my actors! As usual the stills look a lot better than the movie itself, but on the other hand, I guess the editing and sound design will help a lot to the atmosphere and there really is only one scene to shoot and one to redo, the two most important ones, but still...
This Sunday, only Dyk and myself went walking, by the Orongorongo River; A very flat and well maintained track, lots of families and small children on the track, and a really nice piece of bush. Afterwards, we went down to the beach...a very different beach to the other beaches around Wellington.
Next week, I'm definitely starting to film, so stay tuned!
Even though it's only been two days since we're back from the Abel Tasman, Dyk organized a gentle stroll up Mt Kaukau. The weather was still pretty good, a few drops, and i got a few nice shots from the top:
That's probably the biggest Panorama I've ever done...
So, I'm back from the Abel Tasman, my feet hurt, but that doesn't really matter, because I had the best time of my life there. It really is one of the most beautyful spots in NZ, it seems to be always sunny and hot; you sometimes start to worry to die from dehydration, even when your sleeping, but nothing, no blisters, giardia or airplanes stuck on the runway could blur that exerience. I'm giving you a glimps into my photos, sorted after the different days, starting with the day before the walk up to the last day of the walk. There are not all my photos included, I kept some goodies for me, but put up a fairly nice overview of the trip, from my point of view. I'm sure Dyk will have a much detailed article on his blog, and he'll have different photos, so a look into the Jewells' blog is compulsory! (Link on the sidebar->). This Article will be unusual long and occupie most of the front page, so if you haven't looked at the blog for some time, you might want to use the history (---->) to look at some older posts.
Day 1 from Marahau to the Anchorage The girls and the boys, ready to set off. Walks across the estuaries and along the beach The second part of our party in their kayaks on the way in to the Anchorage bay Te Pukatea Bay and Sam fishing.
Day 2 from The Anchorage to Bark Bay Sam and Sarah at the hut in Anchorage Conquering the swing bridge. The hut in Bark Bay. Bark Bay with its beach and tides.
Day 3 from Bark Bay to Awaroa. Photo shoot at the Tonga Quarry. After a hard day walking (Dyk and Me did parts of it 3 times, as we had to get more stuff from the kayaks).
Day 4 from Awaroa to Whariwharangi. Stretching with Sam and crossing the bay at low tide. One of many huge trees, and one of many bays. Dyk taking a break and Alice taking my hat. The wildlife and funny rocks at the beach. What people are up to during their breaks. The way up to Seperation Point and the view from there. The amazing old homestead, that we stayed in on our last night, Sam swallowing as much food as he can, so he doesn't have to carry it... (ate quater of a christmas cake at one stage)
Day 5 from Whariwharangi to Wainui. What people are up to in the mornings, when they're not walking early. What people look like when they're walking. What people look like when they haven't shaved for a week... An awesome posy in the rocks near Wainui. One of my alltime favourite pics of the walk. Aerial shots on the way out of Nelson and into Wellington. Sam having a Hop Rocker at Nelson Airport, after a long week without beer.
I hope you get a glimps how much fun we had (eventhough Sarah would probably not admit so...) and what a great bunch of people I was walking with. I'm already looking forward to do another one of those yearly great walks with them, at some point in the future, cheers for that!
Check out my blog in the next weeks, there will be shots of me at my own filmset...
